Sat. July 27th  6:30-8:30pm   Mudslide Charley

MudSlide Charley creates a powerful and seminal expression of 21st century blues. With our soul firmly planted in the dirt of the Mississippi Delta, we weave together Blues, Hip Hop and early R&B into the fabric of our sound, to write and perform songs that exude emotional fervor, and joyous spontaneity. Simultaneously brash and playful these blues tell vital stories full of danger, longing, sexuality, and hope.

Loaded with groove and Inspired by the patchwork of American roots music, MudSlide Charley's brand of gut-bucket blues and ramshackle soul is as authentic as it is original and will surely make you dan
ce. The band writes and performs original songs pumping with vital relevance and emotional fervor that exude a true reverence for the blues musicians who have paved our way. Using gritty electric guitar, elastic bass, chest thumping backbeat, and rich soulful vocals punctuated by harmonica, piano, and saxophone, Mudslide Charley creates a musical gumbo that rattles bones and loosens limbs.

Sat. July 27th   9:00-11:00pm  Wolf Tones & Big Daddy
Beth Wulff on keys, Jim Wulff on drums and vocals, Steve Kelley on guitar and vocals, and Ry Kelley on bass.

Beth Wulff is an award-winning songwriter and keyboardist, including Best Blues Keyboard Player by the Washington Blues Society. She was one of the founding members of the Seattle Women in Rhythm and Blues as their keyboardist and featured vocalist, performing with Merilee Rush, Patti Allen, Duffy Bishop, and jazz guitarist Emily Remler among others. She has performed with Motown legend Mary Wells, soul singer Al Wilson, and local legend Rich Dangel. She continues to be in demand and to perform in the Seattle area with numerous bands and vocalists, including her husband of many years Jim Wulff.

Jim started his music career on drums and vocals in his college days, which included vocal instruction at the University of Montana from nationally renowned opera singer, Esther England. There he met and later married Beth Morrison, an inspiring performing musician. After playing percussion with a group out of Montana, Novelty Jack, Jim began working with Beth as a duo and in various ensembles as a drummer and vocalist in Montana and the Pacific Northwest. He has shared the stage with Montana’s Big Daddy, Kevin Wallace, the late Rich Dangel, Paula Maya, and was a founding member of the blues band Stacy Jones and the Wolf Tones. He eventually recorded a CD featuring his vocals that can be found via CD Baby.

BIG DADDY Steve Kelley toured extensively in the late 1960’s and 1970’s, sharing the bill with many top American acts, including Paul Butterfield, Canned Heat, James Cotton, and Steppenwolf. He put down roots in the Flathead Valley of Montana in 1977 with his wife, Mary Ann, to raise their children, as he continued to play locally and regionally. It was Madison Slim, long time harmonica player for the legendary Jimmie Rogers, who talked Big Daddy into touring again. They formed the Nightcrawlers in 1990 and tore it up for the next two years. Slim went back with Jimmie in 1992, and Big Daddy formed the Blue Notes playing lead guitar and featuring his vocals and original music. BIG DADDY plays upbeat Chicago style blues, firmly rooted in the tradition of the great masters, such as MUDDY WATERS, MAGIC SAM, SLIM HARPO, LITTLE WALTER, HOWLIN’ WOLF, and SUNNY BOY WILLIAMSON II.
